ASTM A358 CL.1 TP316L Stainless Steel Welded Pipes

ASTM A358 316/316L Pipe has been serving the need of gas and oil industry, power plants, shipbuilding, automotive and many other industries also. This type of alloy is leading in the transportation industry for carrying water, gas, oil, etc, from one place to another.
Five classes of pipe are covered as follows:
ASTM A358 CL1 - ASTM A358 Class 1 Pipe shall be double welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes and shall be completely radiographed.
ASTM A358 CL2 - ASTM A358 Class 2 Pipe shall be double welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes, no radiography is required.
ASTM A358 CL3 - ASTM A358 Class 3 Pipe shall be single welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes and shall be completely radiographed.
ASTM A358 CL4 - Same as ASTM A358 Class 3 except that the weld pass exposed to the inside pipe surface may be made without the addition of filler metal.
ASTM A358 CL5 - ASTM A358 Class 5 Pipe shall be double welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes and shall be spot radiographed.
TP316 is the standard molybdenum-bearing grade, second in importance to TP304 amongst the austenitic stainless steels. The molybdenum gives TP316 better overall corrosion resistant properties than TP304, particularly higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It has excellent forming and welding characteristics. It is readily brake or roll formed into a variety of parts for applications in the industrial, architectural, and transportation fields. TP316 also has outstanding welding characteristics. Post-weld annealing is not required when welding thin sections.
TP316L, the low carbon version of TP316 and is immune from sensitisation (grain boundary carbide precipitation). Thus it is extensively used in heavy gauge welded components (over about 6mm). TP316H, with its higher carbon content has application at elevated temperatures, as does stabilised TP316Ti.
