ASTM A403 WP316L-S Stainless Steel Type-A Stub End
ASTM A403 WP316L Stainless Steel contains higher chromium and low carbon content. This steel type contains 0.03% of carbon content, which reduces its susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. This kind of steel can be continuously exposed to temperatures of about 1500°F without appreciable scaling.
A Stub End is a short length of pipe with one flared end and the other end needing to be welded to the pipe of the same size. A combination of stub ends and backing flanges is an alternate way of joining pipes compared to the use of standard flanges. The use of stub ends reduces the weight of the flanged joints. Stub ends are installed in pairs and mated together with two lap joint flanges.
