Description of Spectacle Blind Flange
Spectacle Blinds are generally applied to permanently separating pipesystems, or just to connect with each other. A Spectacle Blind is a Steel Plate cut into two discs of a certain thickness.
The two discs are attached to each other by section of steel similar to the nose piece of a pair of glasses. One of the discs is a solid plate, and the other is a ring, whose inside diameter is equal to that of a flange.
Spectacle Blinds be applied in systems, which regularly need to be separated from other installations. Normally, a Spectacle Blind is mounted in the "open" position so that flow through the pipe is possible. If the Spectacle Blind in the "close" position is rotated, the pipe is blanked off and no flow is possible.
What Is Hastelloy Flanges?
Hastelloy Flange are high-performance superalloys. These alloys are designed with a superior chemical concentration consisting of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum with a small content of tungsten. The outstanding composition gives these modules enhanced resistance to corrosion and oxidation in stress-induced environments. The content of molybdenum gives these flange superior resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. The versatile flange are employed to securely seal piping modules of different shapes and sizes across the system. The lower carbon content allows these modules to be readily welded to different components, making use of standard welding procedures.
Hastelloy C276 Flanges are made up of the nickel chromium molybdenum alloy that is called hastelloy. The composition includes 50.99% nickel, 14.5% chromium, 15% molybdenum and carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, cobalt, iron and phosphorus in it. The Hastelloy C276 Flanges have high melting point of 1370 degrees Celsius. This high melting point allows for higher operating temperatures of the flanges. The material also has 790MPa minimum tensile strength and 355MPa minimum yield strength.
The ASTM B564 Hastelloy C276 Pipe Flanges can also come in different pressure classes. The pressure classes range from 150 through 2500 and PN6 through PN64. There are different application types such as offshore oil drilling, power generation, petrochemicals, gas processing, specialty chemicals and others which use these flanges. There are special flanges like the Hastelloy Alloy C276 Blind Flanges which are used to close a pipeline either temporarily or permanently. The type of flange and the application requirements vary. The flanges are also used in pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, sea water equipment, heat exchangers and in condensers.
