The Monel 400 alloy consists of nickel and copper and is primarily known for resisting corrosion caused due to seawater. The Monel 400 Pipe is also resistant to other corrosion due to acids and other media. Due to its unique mechanical properties, the Monel 400 Pipe is widely used in various marine applications, piping systems, seawater valves, etc. One can also find a huge Monel 400 Seamless Pipe application in the crude oil distillation tower, chemical plant equipment, etc. Being one of Chinese top Monel Tube&Pipe suppliers, we can state that pipe is hardened only by cold working. The Alloy 400 Pipe also exhibits high strength and excellent weldability and is greatly resistant to corrosion. However, the ASME SB 165 UNS N04400 material has low machinability. The Monel material hardens during machining, and hence the conventional machining procedures used on the iron alloy are used in this one.
Even though the ASTM B165 UNS N04400 material has low strength in the annealed condition, it displays excellent mechanical properties even at sub-zero temperatures. The Monel Pipe can be used up to a temperature of 1000 degrees F. To enhance the mechanical properties of the Monel 400 Welded Pipe, finished fabrication can be done on it. Controlling the amount of hot working or cold working along with a proper selection of thermal treatments can also improve the properties of the Monel Nickel Alloy Steel Pipe.
Cleaning the alloy is an essential part for the Monel 400 Pipe suppliers, or else it will not show the optimum resistance capability to corrosion. Characteristics
Corrosion resistance in an extensive range of marine and chemical environments. From pure water to nonoxidizing mineral acids, salts and alkalis.
This alloy is more resistant to nickel under reducing conditions and more resistant than copper under oxidizing conditions, it does show however better resistance to reducing media than oxidizing.
Good mechanical properties from subzero temperatures up to about 480C.
Good resistance to sulfuric and hydrofluoric acids. Aeration however will result in increased corrosion rates. May be used to handle hydrochloric acid, but the presence of oxidizing salts will greatly accelerate corrosive attack.
Resistance to neutral, alkaline and acid salts is shown, but poor resistance is found with oxidizing acid salts such as ferric chloride.
Excellent resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking.
