Stainless / Carbon Steel Integral Low Fin Tube
Integral Low Fin Tube is a type of Extruded Fin Tube consisting of small low fins. The low fin tube is similar to extruded "high fin" types but these fin tubes have the same diameter as the base tube. The primary advantage for the low fin tube is providing surface enhancement and better heat transfer over smooth tubing. During the manufacturing process, fin material is tightly wound around the outside of the tube to secure metals-to-metal contact of the base of the fin with the tube. Integral Low Fin Tube has the advantage of improving the thermal performance of a Heat Exchanger. The external surface of the tube is increased by the formation of “low fins” by direct extrusion from the material of the base tube.
Low Fin Tubes basically consist of a metal tube. This tube can be made of different types of metals. The low fins increases the outer surface of the base tube. YUHONG GROUP produces a variety of types of fin tubes. We use a proprietary die to form helical grooves into the outer diameter of the tube to create the fin. Low fin tubes are available in any manufacturable or formable tube, including copper alloy, copper-nickel alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, and more. When using a heat exchanger, a heated medium is flowed through the fin tube. The medium transfers its heat to the tube and then transfers the heat to the fins. These fins ensure that different medium is heated.
The advatage of a low fin tube is that outer diameter of the fins doesn't exceed the outer diameter of the base tube. We can put a fin tube through a Tubesheet which is just barely larger than outer diameter of the fin tube, with a small fin that allows for greater heat transfer than a smooth tube. Another advantage of low fin tubes is the ability to increase enhanced surface on the inside of the tube through internal groves or spirals, improving heat transfer capability.
