The term "SMLS" stands for Seamless, indicating that the tube is made from a solid billet of metal with no welds or seams. This makes it stronger and more reliable than welded tubes, with a smooth and consistent interior surface.
Applications of ASTM B111 C70600 tubes include heat exchangers, condensers, seawater piping systems, and other marine hardware. They are also used in power plants and desalination plants due to their resistance to the corrosive effects of salt water.
It's important to note that despite the term "steel" in the title, this alloy is not actually a type of steel. It is a copper-nickel alloy. The term "steel" might be used to indicate the strength and durability of the material, but it is technically incorrect in this context.
